IRC and Dashboard

Speaking of Dashboard, I was thinking about how nice it would be to hook it up to the IRC channels I frequent, both on the front-end and the back-end. Having access to the amazing repositories on knowledge held by infobots such as purl would be really nice (I can’t count the number of times I’ve messaged purl for help on figuring out an acronym or project name that I didn’t know about) and having a communally accessible dashboard for the current discussion would be nice as well.

I know Chris Schmidt has done some work on adding irssi front-end support, but I think a communally accessible dashboard would be nice. I’m not exactly sure how it would work, but an in-channel solution like purl might work, an auxillary channel with just dashboard results would work just as well and wouldn’t pollute the main channel, as would a web scratchpad like #rdfig, though a scratchpad wouldn’t be as immediate and passive as dashboard inherently is.

Anyway, just some idle musings here…
