An Evening
Wow. So. I had a great evening. I went to a lecture by Omar Quintero of UNC, Chapel Hill on Myosin-X. It turned into a lecture where I didn’t understand nearly anything that was said (or, sometimes, the relevance of what was said), yet I still walked away very impressed. Following the talk, I joined Mark, Betsey, Omar, Steve Benz, and a new Genomics Group member (whose name I have already forgetten) at a nice Italian restaurant in Mansfield. The meal was good, the conversation was excellent, and the school was paying.
After getting back to campus, I joined Shuli, Jayme, and Sarah in Emerson to dye everyone’s hair. Shuli bleached and ended up liking how her red bleached out to blonde and pink, Jayme added a bit of purple, Sarah dyed her blonde tips red, and I got a dark purple mohawk with green sides. Unfortunately I had a bit of trouble washing all the dye out; I stepped out of the shower, and everyone went silent and stared. I probably would have stared too, because my entire face was dark purple. Scrubbing all of that off was a challenge, but it worked out (mostly) after some effort.
I’m going to try to write up a few things from the dinner and post them tomorrow, but right now I’m ready for bed. So until later, good night.

put lotion (lots & lots) on your face before you do that next time. it makes the dye come off easier.
oh, and you might want to check out a beer called Raison D’Être, by the Dogfish Head brewery. good stuff.
