Broken

Only a day after getting a new DVD drive for my powerbook, and having the ability to read CDs for the first time in two years, my laptop appears to be broken. And not just won’t-boot-(but I can fix it the next time I can plug it into another mac) broken, but strange-power-supply-and-screen-related broken. The laptop is nearing it’s fourth birthday, and so is pretty old for a Powerbook, but I’m not ready to let it go just yet. So hopefully I’ll be able to figure out what’s wrong and fix it without too much hassle, but at this point, the idea of spending any money it that might be better put towards a new machine is an unappealing one.

Anyway, updates will be light as a result of not having a working machine; There’s only so long I can boot Knoppix on friends’ machines before people start to get annoyed…

Oh ick. Sorry to hear about that man. Good luck finding the problem. I hope it’s fixable, especially since you just put some work into it.

I’m thinking that maybe someone out there just doesn’t want you to have a working CD drive…

It’s like an epidemic. I guess you won’t be needing the parts from my laptop. I hope Macworld has good news for us.
