Flying

In contrast to my flight yesterday, here’s a list of some of the more interesting people I’ve had to sit next to while traveling:

  • A composer, who said very little during the flight, but filled many pages of his score.
  • A young girl named Jaxie who licked my soda can to see if I’d keep drinking from it.
  • One of the most well behaved flying companions I’ve ever had, a seeing-eye dog whose owner was the third person in our row.
  • A young librarian from Hollywood, and her boyfriend, who gave me a ride from Providence to MIT. Our conversation started because of my Fluevogs.
  • A girl named Emily, who found delight in discussing the exceptionally personal. I still have the piece of paper (somewhere) on which she wrote her email address and invited me to a party in Long Beach.

Most of these were met on Southwest, and I haven’t flown Southwest in quite some time. It’s sad, because flying cross-country on Southwest is so excruciating, and yet so often filled with interesting and eccentric people.
