West Coast
Earlier this month, Kat and I flew out to the west coast to visit some friends, and to spend four days in Monterey with my family. We started in San Francisco with Gary, spending a couple of days seeing the sights, wandering around Haight-Ashbury, driving down Lombard Street, having amazing (and pretentious!) tea, and having lunch at Google twice (ridiculous!). We even got to see the Mountain View Kwik-E-Mart.
From there, we took the train to Monterey (actually the train goes to Salinas, and there’s a shuttle connection to Monterey) where we met up with my parents, Kim, Matt, Emma and Megan, Glen, Griffin and Connor, and Brenda, Larry, Jessica and Mia. It was really great to see everybody together (just like last year in San Diego). We went to the aquarium, shopped on Cannery Row, and somehow managed to arrange getting out to Gilroy for the annual Garlic Festival. On the way south, we even swung by the 17 Mile Drive (I really wanted to see the Lone Cypress).
Finally, we spent a few days in Santa Monica where we had dinner with Erik, and swung by Lauren and Mike’s place in Long Beach for an amazing dinner and some Westvleteren.
