Two Years

Today marks the two year anniversary of my weblog in its current incarnation. The weblog started out running Bloxsom which was, at that point, a single perl CGI of about two hundred lines. The first post, on May 24th, 2002, was an update to my (now mostly stagnant1) reading list. I still haven’t read most of the books on that list, and quite a few books have been added to the list since then. Since that time, I hacked on Bloxsom until I had more of my own code than original Bloxsom code. I finally got fed up with re-implementing existing features, and upgraded to Movable Type on August 22nd, 2002, which I’ve been (mostly) happy with ever since.

To celebrate this anniversary, I’ll be shuffling things around on this site over the next month or so. Expect new designs (which I had hoped to have online today, but which aren’t cooperating with non- Gecko and KHTML renderers), content (especially in the pictures section), and features (Hopefully an RDF search will be making its way into service, adding an interactive view to the existing static data available on the pictures and people pages).

1Most of the books on that list are still on my list of things to read. I own quite a few more of them at this point than is noted on the page, and the list is incomplete, being complemented by my Amazon wishlists[US,UK].

While on the subject of twos, why two wishlists?

Amazon US and UK don’t share wishlists. So books only available from Amazon UK have to go into their own wishlist.
