Truth in Blogging
There’s more of the truth in blogging thought thread over on jill/txt, Hiding Behind a Blog:
The only way I can blog that he left me is obliquely. I demote his name on my blogroll, link less frequently and wonder whether anyone notices. Today I mask my grief and anger with this academic reflection over a genre. I want to tell the world but this hurt exceeds the genre and voice I’ve created here.
I find myself opposed to this sort of private meaning to blogging, but am intrigued by its seemingly common usage. Even while opposing it, I must admit it becomes easy to slide into this sort of usage.
Update: In response to Jill’s response, I admit I mis-read her to be saying that the “tent of metaphors” was intentional. That, as it turns out, isn’t the case. Despite that, I never intended to imply that this was a case of lying but rather that, “conscious or not,” the posts reflected more than their content. Sorry for any confusion.

I want it said that I was first to scream the truth about Mars. It may well be known to the whole world in the next week, but I tried to tell everyone years ago.
The planets history is about to change. It may be a bumpy ride…
