Math Games

Has anyone ever constructed a Scrabble-like game that involved math equations? I think it would be really neat in an absurdly geeky way. You have tiles for numbers, variables, and operators and, as gameplay progresses, you have to respect the equations already on the board.

So you play X+Y=5, and then Y=-2, and suddenly all statements involving X must respect X as being equal to 7. I’m not sure how scoring would work, but I think this would be an interesting game to play. Especially interesting if it involved higher maths than just algebra.

if you ever find or develop a game like that let me know, i’d use it in my class.

I think the game would need to escape from such definitions. Presuming you used even 8 - 10 different variable names, you would quickly just be playing adding games as all would find deffinitions in a short period of time.

now…if you kept if purely symbolic…then it would get interesting.

Oh yeah, a purely symbolic game would be cool with an electronic board that automatically verified what was placed on it.

Yes, that game would be so very fun and cool…for me to POOP ON!

hmmm somehow I don’t find the idea of fitting together letters that much different from fitting together numbers. but maybe that’s just me.
