Fire and Ash
October 26th, 2003 11:35 AM
The world is burning, and everything smells like ash. Planes from the east are being redirected to land at Las Vegas because the air traffic control radars are being affected by the smoke east of Los Angeles. On Thursday the sky remained a disturbing bright orange all day because of all the smoke and ash in the air. Interstate 15 is closed. Hudreds of homes are burning.
And everything still smells like ash.
Update: Flights from the north have been cancelled as well. At this point, I believe LAX is essentially shut down. I hope this doesn’t continue until Wednesday when I’m scheduled to fly to Boston.
