Beer

Chimay BeerGary and I went out for dinner at BJ’s tonight followed by a stop at Diddy Riese and then back to Santa Monica where we ended up at Father’s Office. It was a night of some good beer: BJ’s had the amazing Tatonka which was quite good, though almost too rich and sweet to finish a full pint; I was also delighted to discover that Father’s Office has Chimay White on tap as well as Chimay Red and Blue in bottles.

Father’s Office was eerily deserted tonight with only eight or so people in the whole place. The bartender (owner?) said he didn’t know what had happened, but he seemed to be enjoying the leisurely pace the emptiness allowed him. He gave us loads of suggestions for beers to try, filling shot after shot with excellent beers from the tap, some of which he had gotten new in the last week (Sierra DarkBrown was one of these). It was very pleasant to sit in the relatively quiet atmosphere and discuss the beers and to engage Gary in the ongoing tech talk. All in all, a very pleasing night.

just a correction in case anyone cares: the new beer on tap was sierra brown, not sierra dark :)
