Wonko’s Visit

August 29th, 2003 2:46 AM

Wonko and I hung out a good bit earlier this week after he came down to LA for a friend’s wedding.

We talked a lot about his current plans to further lessen the obligations in his life that don’t help him reach his current goals as well as some related philosophical and social issues that are stirred up when you start talking about denying the claims that society makes on you.

We went to the Novel Cafe, and In-N-Out, and Diddy Riese. We walked in Westwood and Santa Monica and dragged our feet in the surf in Venice. We hung out with the Cnation gang (Matt, David, Rich and Al) and hung out like a bunch of geeks in the new Apple Store on the Promenade where the shiny G5 had just arrived. We had a good discussion on what was wrong with Windows and Linux (a change) and what NeXT and OSX had gotten right.

We discussed my job prospects and stopped by BizRate to visit David and Thai.

All in all his visit (as always) was a lot of fun and gave me more to think about. His action in following his dreams in encouraging. If only more people had the courage and insight to nail down what it is they (think) they want out of life and takes steps towards that goal.
