the end

right now I’m in a plane somewhere over new mexico (i think), and united continues its on and off treatment of me. i was delighted to arrive at the check-in counter, and recieve an offer of changing to a non-stop flight which would arrive in LA two hours earlier. unfortunately, by changing flights my vegetarian meal seems to have gotten lost in the shuffle. the best the stewardess could offer me was a salad tossed together from the food in first class. on the uber-cool side of things, united wins the nifty airline of the day award for having the air traffic control transmissions available on one of the audio channels. there’s something very reassuring about hearing the air traffic controllers telling the pilot that the turbulence gets better just a few minutes ahead :) that, and it makes it possible to roughly track where we are (“united 51, please contact albequerque center on 133.92”). it’s also interesting to hear how many planes are in the area: we seem to be trailing united flight 19 by a few minutes. southwest has a lot of flights in the air, as do fedex, and american. useless information rocks!
