Mars on West Wing

Tonight’s West Wing, “The Warfare of Genghis Khan,” mentioned the Mars Direct plan. There was no mention of any of the compelling reasons why Mars Direct is preferable to other major proposals for a manned mission, but the mere fact that it was mentioned was fantastic.

Yep. I cried. Right there in the middle of West Wing. She started talking about the Mars Direct plan and I started bawling. It sounded like she was reading part of Zubrin’s speech from ISDC in Orlando…
It was beautiful. I don’t know if anyone not already in the choir got it… but it was nice to hear it mentioned and to have a White House staffer - even a fictional one - get excited. I guess we have a fellow traveller at NBC somewhere…
