Romantic yes. Revolutionary? Well, parts of it probably are, but I thought Matthew was not as strong (an actor) as he could have been, and I found the ending weak.

I didn’t find the ending weak. Only ambivalent, and that was intentional.

I found it weak, because though his opposition to violence had been mentioned several times throughout the movie, it was only in the context of him being a pushover b/c he would not resist. The fact that in the end he stands up for his principles, is somewhat of a cop out, I think, because it seems out of character. Is it ambivalent? Perhaps, as it is somewhat contradictory, but if it was truly ambivalent he would have had a harder time deciding not to go with them.

the movie was very romantic and powerful, though i don’t think it was that revolutionary.

the ending is definitely ambivalent. seemed like a strange way to end the movie, but i still haven’t decided whether it was a good or bad way to end it. also, while i found matthew’s non-violence at the end of the movie well within his character, i do agree with leo that it wasn’t developed thoroughly enough for the strength with which he displays it at the end of the movie.

i think one of my favorite parts was when matthew and theo are sitting in the cafe downstairs after isabelle made theo masturbate in front of them. matthew says how he would never make his sisters do something they didn’t want to and theo answers, “you think isabelle forced me to do that?”. his delivery and the expression on his face afterwards were just priceless.

i dont get it, did theo and isabelle die? i thought the movie was REALLY sexual but that’s the beauty because the world isn’t full of happy fluffy bunnies, and virgins till married. but i didnt like the ending…i dont kno what happend
