I really want a way to use the Mars Spirit QTVR as my desktop background. Further, I want it to be panning at about one degree per minute (360° every six hours). That would be enough to get me to change my current desktop picture, which I’ve been using non-stop for over seven years.

Well, if you cut the pictures up, OS X lets you select a folder of images and the timing with which it changes the pictures.

I’m sure in your infinite wisdom you can write a script to do it. Or are you chicken?

You know, it’s even worse than that. So that the image didn’t jump every hour, I’d want it to pan at the level of one pixel. Which would probably mean thousands of images. And neither my computer nor I would be happy with thousands of desktop pictures lying around to make this work.
