I was just overcome with an amazing sense of nastolgia and longing for the time spent at Wheaton last January. The winter (and summer) breaks at Wheaton were the best times, when even work didn’t seem quite as bad. All the people that didn’t matter were gone, and the campus was left pleasant and amazing.

Looking back, I see that I didn’t write down much of the good things about January. Thin Ice and My Name is Jonas are the only hints of an amazing time.

As always, there were bad times, too. As well as the recovery from the (really) bad times the past autumn. But they have withered away to some degree, leaving me mostly with appreciation.

Winter is already here, it’s just the winter of our discontent. If you’re looking for more nostalgia, you do also have pictures on this site of last January. There’s a profile shot of me with buzzed hair and since then, I’ve managed to create a vivid contrast with long hair and full beard… Very different winters, indeed.

Indeed. The pictures of January at Wheaton do a better job than the weblog posts of showing a good time.

Except that I can no longer see the picture of Mathis and his cat without thinking of a certain someone who described it as depicting Mathis’ “hotness.” Heh.

Look, friend Melanie and i were swaping attractive prof. stories (she thought our Peace, Conflict, and Human Rights: The Asian Dilemma prof Paul D. Scott was “attractive for an older man”) and what better way to illustrate the hotness than by way of your provided picture.

i’d provide one of scott, but google’s not being my friend right now.
