Subtitles
Since it seems to be that time of year again (the time when we all sit around and come up with our top-N lists for the year), here are my eight favorite weblog subtitles (in alphabetical order):
- Anil Dash: New York New Media New Funk.
- Antipixel: a deliberate pouring from empty into void.
- Axis of Ævil: Familiarity breeding contempt and ennui.
- Crooked Timber: Out of the Crooked Timber of Humanity, No Straight Thing Was Ever Made.
- dooce: decking the motherfucking halls
- Haiku Rap: 俳句izzle
- Pet Rock Star: Voice of an angel, mouth of a truckdriver.
- tiny pineapple: ananas comosus (L.) minimus.
I like Anil Dash’s subtitle so much because it reminds me of this quote of his: All you shoe-gazing indie rock motherfuckers are gonna regret someday that you didn’t find the funk back when you was still young enough to shake that ass.
The subtitle on dooce actually changes about once a month, and it always seems to make me laugh.
So there you have it. I’ve now done my part to add just a bit more to the mostly meaningless end-of-year lists category, and I expect you all to do the same. Because, honestly, reading these lists is a lot more fun than doing work.
