Life in General
Gah. My life is starting to suck.
We had a company meeting today and all I could think of was how it reminded me of The Day I Turned Uncool: No matter how much you try to tell yourself that you work for a fun dot-com with that start-up feel, it’s simply not true. What makes the situation worse is the willful rejection of that truth by the people I have to deal with. There’s just something awkward about a company meeting that involves pitching the employees on the notion that company stock would be worth a lot in the future, giving a canned explanation of why we’re better than the competition, trying to humiliate the new hires in front of the other employees, and trying to get everyone to socialize with free beer and pizza.
Tim may have been closer to the mark than I want to admit when he told me I had sold out. I want out of this life.
Oh, and I appologize for the downtime of both this site and my email (which is still down pending domain name server propogation). If you need to email me, you can do so at greg@kasei.us.

it’s quite a thing to admit it. most people will never in their lives come that far. most people we know in fact.

I struggle with this same thing. I feel like I haven’t sold out, but what now? You feel like you sold out, but you have a real job and are a productive member of society. Not sure what’s really right. It does seem like its rare having it both ways. So, now that you’ve said you think you’ve sold out. What now?
