Website Updates

It was time to do away with that old website, and unleash this new, shiny one. There’s no content for the main page yet (should I just make the blog the front page?). The site should validate as XHTML 1.0 Strict and CSS2 on every page, and sport a nice layout if you’re using a competent browser: Anything Gecko based (Mozilla, Galeon, Chimera) or KHTML based (Safari, Konqueror) will work well. IE will work, but it’s brain-dead handling of alpha-channel transparency in PNG images will screw up the header, while it’s inability to deal with fixed position background images (along with the PNG problem) will cause problems on the blog. Also, IE will not show the collapsable menu items that show up with Gecko (non-CSS browsers should show the entire site navigation all at once).

In general, I’d like to re-affirm my hatred of Microsoft products that suck, while continuing to support high-quality browsers based on open source components.

Wow. IE does nasty things to your page. It’s a shame I don’t have admin access on my work computer to so I can’t install any different browser.
