I’m having trouble remembering who the speaker was, but someone at Defcon was talking about the possibilities when cryptography, micropayments, and anonymity meet. The ideas were interesting, and I find myself thinking over them often. He discussed the Dining Cryptographers Problem as it applies to releasing anonymous content from a group. He also discussed uses for a secure micropayment system, giving the intriguing example of requiring the attachment of a promissory note of a one dollar micropayment to each email you recieve, which you will cash if the email is spam. If a message does not have the micropayment attachment, you filter it as spam regardless of content. Thought provoking stuff.
